Community Memorial Health System Laundry Earns Hygienically Clean Healthcare Certification
Community Memorial Health System Is the First On-Premise Laundry to Earn Hygienically Clean Healthcare Certification
Community Memorial Health System is proud to share that we’ve become the first on-premise laundry to achieve the Hygienically Clean Healthcare Certification! We work hard every day to provide all our employees and patients with clean linens and uniforms – and a safe overall healthcare environment.
The laundry at our hospitals provides hygienically clean linens, gowns, scrubs and other garments for all our employees and patients. Certifications from Hygienically Clean, based in Virginia, recognize linen, uniform and facility services companies’ commitment to cleanliness through laundry plant inspection and third-party biological testing.
Certification from Hygienically Clean is important in today’s era of growing global concerns about infection control and it’s especially important during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We are proud to be in compliance with the Hygienically Clean Standard, which has the industry’s best management practices for producing safe linens,” said CMHS Laundry Manager Gustavo Guzman. “Our employees also feel safer and are reassured by the processes we follow and the results-oriented testing of our products.”
Joseph Ricci, president and CEO of TRSA, an industry group which represents companies (including hospitals) that supply, launder and maintain linens and uniforms and helps them provide clean, safe environments for employees and customers, congratulated CMHS on the achievement. “Attaining the Hygienically Clean Healthcare certification proves this facility’s commitment to infection prevention and that their laundry is taking every step possible to prevent human illness.”
CMHS is the first on-premise laundry to meet the high standards of Hygienically Clean since the program began in 2011. The certification process verifies that the processes used in facilities meet appropriate hygienically clean standards and best management practices industrywide.
The recognition shows that CMHS is dedicated to cleanliness and consistently takes the right steps to prevent infections and keep patients, physicians, and employees safe.
Hygienically Clean sets the standard and measure for hygienically clean textiles in North America. Cleanliness standards are verified by on-site inspections from a third party and microbial testing. The independent, third-party inspection must show that employees are properly trained and protected, managers understand regulatory requirements, the laundry is OSHA-compliant, and the laundry operates effectively, according to Hygienically Clean.
Hygienically Clean certification ensures that products laundered meet high disinfection criteria through the entire process, including washing, drying, ironing and packing. A laundry service or facility is not required to use any particular processes or techniques to achieve certification as long as they meet the standards measured by microbial testing. Objective experts in epidemiology, infection control, nursing and other healthcare professions work with Hygienically Clean launderers to ensure the certification enforces the highest standards for producing clean healthcare textiles.
Please JOIN US in congratulating the CMHS Laundry Team on this outstanding achievement and their dedication to the health and safety of our patients, physicians, and staff!
