Community Memorial Health System is dedicated to providing the best in screening and imaging technologies to all women in the community.

CMHS is proud to participate in National Breast Cancer Awareness Month by offering low-cost breast imaging to all women who schedule a screening for the month of October at the Breast Center at Community Memorial Hospital or at Ojai Valley Community Hospital. Schedule your mammogram or screening during October and make preventative healthcare a priority!

“We would like to have screening services available for everybody and we don’t want to have finances be something that restricts people from getting screened. People with or without insurance are welcome,” said Leslie Minato, supervisor of the CMHS Breast Center. She added, “We encourage women to get annual mammograms, annual clinical exams by a doctor, and do monthly self-exams to catch any problems early. Always remember to further investigate anything suspicious.”

If you haven’t had a mammogram in a while, find the time to make an appointment now! Breast cancer is more prevalent than you may realize. It’s the most common cancer in American women after skin cancer and the second leading cause of cancer death in women after lung cancer, according to the American Cancer Society. One in eight women are at risk for breast cancer. The sooner you get screened and diagnosed, the sooner you can begin treatment.

During October at the Breast Center in Ventura, 3D Breast Tomosynthesis is available for $90. Digital tomosynthesis creates a 3-dimensional picture of the breast using X-rays and is the latest breast imaging technology approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Automated Breast Ultrasound (ABUS) is available for dense breast patients for $150. Automatic Whole Breast Ultrasound (ABUS) is FDA-approved and used in combination with mammography for those who have dense breast tissue.  At Ojai Valley Community Hospital during October, traditional 2D mammography is available for $65 (cash prices paid at the time of service).
