Construction on Ojai’s New Continuing Care Center Moves Forward

The new 75-bed Continuing Care Center on the Ojai Valley Community Hospital Campus has already gained significant ground, and much additional activity is in progress!

The plaster and roofing are now nearly complete on the exterior enclosure of the building.  This means the building’s interior finishes can now be installed.  The windows have all been completed, and the large glass storefront door frames are currently being anchored in place.  The numerous windows and expansive doorways will allow for an abundance of natural light inside the building.

While the exterior activities are underway, progress is being made on the interior structural mechanics.  Crews are installing many of the in-wall and overhead mechanical and electrical elements, plumbing components, and fire sprinklers.  Major milestones have also been met, including positioning some of the heavy HVAC equipment on the roof and getting the main electrical distribution equipment in place before final installation.

With the testing of various plumbing components complete in the north wing and the approval of the electrical installation, drywall finishes have  been placed.  As drywall goes up, and exciting early look at the final product is starting to take shape!

This flow will continue as the construction team moves south and east through the building, and new activities including ceiling grid, shower tile, cabinetry, and flooring finishes will begin in the north wing.
